Just as generations left the Statue of Freedom to us, we will leave the Garden of Destiny as our legacy.\\The Koknese Foundation is non-profit and non-governmental organization, it was developed with the aim to supervise and coordinate the process of the development of the Memorial site. The basis of Foundation has been created by the intellectual contribution of the founders for realization of ideas. \Founders of the Koknese Foundation are well-known and recognized professionals in Latvia and worldwide from different areas. They include: the historian Ainars Bambals, scenic designer Andris Freibergs, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia and the European Commissioner Sandra Kalniete, Koknese local government, which is represented by the Chairman of Koknese Council Viesturs Cirulis and Deputy Chairman Maris Reinbergs, The Chairman of the World Federation of Free Latvians Janis Kukainis, Director of Rundale Palace Museum Imants Lancmanis, a/s Dati-Exigen Group president Valdis Lokenbahs, demographer Ilmars Mezs, Director of the Occupation Museum Valters Nollendorfs, Statoil Latvia president Baiba Rubesa, academician Prof. Janis Stradins, historian Rudite Viksne, Council members of the Vitols Foundation Marta and Vilis Vitoli and the poet and writer Mara Zalite. |
