Based and registered in Harare, Zimbabwe, Surchem (Private) Limited is a for-profit social enterprise focused on equitable and sustainable access to safe potable water and good hygiene for all citizens, regardless of geographical location and/or socio-economic status. Our mission is to develop and/or provide technically legitimate and socially embracing technologies that will enable rural and peri-urban households also meet their safe potable water and good hygiene needs just like their urban counterparts. This is socially just given that clean drinking water and good hygiene are human rights according to a 2010 UN declaration. Our ultimate goal is to help reduce prevalence levels and outbreaks of waterborne and other infectious diseases. With infectious diseases, no one is safe until everyone is safe. Covid-19 vividly brought that to the fore in the past 3years.
